Located at the west of La Rioja, in the DUERO RIVER VALLEY, in the northwest of SPAIN, the best latitude for quality wines.

The vines sorround the winery, in the village of LA HORRA (Burgos), the center of this Appellation, where the best and oldest vines of the D.O. are.

Placed at the GOLDEN MILE of the Ribera del Duero, where the most famous wineries have their vines or buy the grapes: Vega Sicilia, Pesquera, Pingus...

Bodegas Balbás was established in 1777 being one the most ANTIENT family wineries in Spain. The familiy started to work in the first underground wine cavern, marking over 250 years of tradition.

We take care of our state 90 hectares, with vines of more than 100 years old, planted at an altitude of 850 to 940 meters.
Special characteristics of “TERROIR” composed of limestone, clay and gravel, poor in organic materials and few rains.
Extreme temperature variations from 40 to -15oC during the year but with one day variation of more than 20o C in summer.
